The End

I intended to end this blog after five years, on the anniversary date, but decided to let it sit for a little while longer to be sure.

I’m sure.

I’ve had no urge to post in the past four weeks. Daily life without the need to think of what to write on my blog has been a refreshing experience—another kind of freedom. You never know how much something drags on you until you let it go.

Fortunately this was never an income stream for me—the blog was never popular enough for that—so I’m not trapped and forced by financial need to keep it going.

Lifewithkurumi.com will remain accessible with comments disabled. Early next year I’ll let the domain name lapse and it’ll revert to lifewithkurumi.blogspot.com, at least until Google decides to cancel the free service.

Thanks for reading. I’m sure I’ll bump into some of you again in my travels. Until then, farewell.

Southern Retreat

ALAMOGORDO, NEW MEXICO—I love these days where everything goes smoothly and according to plan. Mitsuki and I got up around 7am, ate lightly, and got rolling a little after 8am. After some leisurely grocery shopping at the country market and a fill-up at the town’s only gas station we made it to the vet clinic with twenty-five minutes till the appointment at 9:45am. Plenty of time to dust off the old pet carrier, coax Mitsuki inside (not easy since she seemed to have a bad feeling about it) and walk in the door with ten minutes to spare.

Country Vet

FORT STANTON, NEW MEXICO—I guess I should be used to it by now, but I still freak out when Mituski gets sick. That’s because my previous cat, Tali the Maine Coon, had to be put to sleep after a prolonged stretch of losing her appetite and throwing up. She couldn’t recover from it, which is not uncommon when the cat is 17 or 18 years old.
